Today we begin Impromptu Speaking!!

Topic: “What is the clearest part of the HJ in my novel?”

Use the same formula that you use for writing an open response answer: R.A.C.E. 

Formula:

R: Tell them what you’re going to tell them—-INTRODUCTION

A and E: Tell them. ————————————–BODY use at 3 points

Tell them what you told them.—————Conclusion

(no unless you are citing the text).

Next, we will review the goals, criteria, and rubric for The Hero Journey Monomyth and Archetypal Character Storyboard Assignment

Learning Goals:

  • We are learning to use a reading process to develop our insights from literature.
  • We are learning to produce a media text for a specific audience and purpose

Success Criteria:

I know I am successful when I can

  • Read an independent choice novel
  • Make notes on my novel on the narrative elements
  • Make notes on my novel by noticing and noting the various signposts
  • Make notes on my novel by applying the hero journey monomyth stages
  • Make notes on my novel by  applying the Archetypal Literary Theory
  • Plan for the creation of my storyboard by completing the Hero Journey Stages chart and Archetypal Character chart
  • Create a storyboard for a particular audience: Who is this storyboard for? What decisions do I have to make so that it is appealing and interesting for that audience?
  • Create a storyboard for a particular purpose: Why am I creating the storyboard? To inform? To entertain? To persuade?
